The Contributor warrants to the Journal that the work is original material, except for such material from copyrighted sources as is reproduced with the written permission of the copyright holder sufficient to permit the Journal to use the work as set forth herein, and is in no way a violation of or an infringement upon, any copyright belonging to any third party; that the materials contained in the submission are accurate; and that the submission contains no defamatory or otherwise illegal materials. The Contributor shall indemnify and hold the Journal harmless from any claims that the submission infringes a third party's copyright or contains inaccurate, libelous or unlawful material. Journal reserves the right to copy, edit, or change the format of any submitted work to fit its needs.
All submissions to IMPULSE authored solely by one or more students must contain an acknowledgment to the faculty mentor who either supervised the work, in case of research reports, or who reviewed the work, in the case of reviews. In each case, the mentor(s) will be contacted so that IMPULSE can assure that all submissions follow the guidelines for student publications by their home institution.
As outlined in the Guidelines: Responsible Conduct Regarding Scientific Communication from the Society for Neuroscience, 1.14.1, "It is improper for authors to submit a manuscript describing essentially the same research simultaneously to more than one peer-reviewed research journal." The Editorial Board of IMPULSE makes every effort to be sure that all accepted reports are original. In cases where duplication is evident, the manuscript will be sent back without being accepted, and with an explanation of the editorial concerns. In cases where there is evidence that an article has been simultaneously submitted elsewhere, the IMPULSE Faculty Advisor will inform the other journal(s) immediately of the conflict, as well as the faculty mentor(s).
Finally, this document is the complete agreement between the Journal and Contributor. It voids any other agreement (past, present, or future) whether that agreement is oral, written, or implied; this is the sole understanding between the Journal and Contributor.
