EDITORIAL | Issue 2005 | Editors: Matthew Wilkinson and Cade Warren | Institution: University of South Carolina
It has been a great experience working with IMPULSE the last two and a half years. I have enjoyed meeting each member of the editorial team, both here and abroad, as well as reading the EXCELLENT scientific articles that have been submitted. IMPULSE was not an easy journal to get started but the continued, combined effort of each member of the team led to a successful product. I look back with pride on the product that I helped to start. I have now graduated from Carolina and moved to Dallas to start an MD/PhD program in the fall. I wish you all the best of luck and good science.
With the replacement of the founding IMPULSE editors and reviewers, IMPULSE has also taken a new direction. Online publishing is rapidly becoming a fresh, innovative avenue for publication in the sciences, and neuroscience is no exception. In order to ensure that the undergraduates who submit to IMPULSE experience the current pace of publication, we have switched to a "rolling publication" format, whereby once an article is accepted, it will be published online immediately. Not only will this allow undergraduates to see their work published as quickly as possible, it will also help IMPULSE keep the same level of quality in the work we publish. Therefore, we will no longer have an "issue" every few months; instead, articles will be archived by the year they were published. We are very excited about this new direction, as well as the incoming support from our new editors and peer reviewers. We hope to hear from you soon.
